Career[ edit ] Raman restarted The Astrological Magazine in , which was earlier run by his grandfather, and remained its editor for over 62 years. After his death, the magazine was run until December by his son, Niranjan Babu Bangalore, and his daughter, Gayatri Devi Vasudev, when it was shut down citing no reason. Travelling around the world, he delivered innumerable lectures in Germany, England, France, Italy, Austria, Holland, Canada, Japan, and the United States of America, addressing universities, medical associations, and educational and cultural institutions on different aspects of astrology, Hindu astronomy, philosophy, and Indian culture. He asserted that astrology was a science. In October , Raman, on a visit to the United States of America to deliver the keynote address at the First International Symposium on Vedic Astrology, held at Dominican College in San Rafael, California , mooted the idea of a national body to organise the study of Indian astrology in the States. It is used primarily in judging timing of events. Raman, in his experience, had found it to be a very useful tool in making predictions. He clearly mentions that the ashtakavarga chart needs to be prepared on basis of the rashi chart and not the bhava chart. There are various ashtakavarga charts and they are given a good treatment in this short book. Bhinnashatakavarga or individual ashtakavarga charts, Bhinnashatakavarga after reduction, Sarvashatakavarga or total ashtakavarga chart, and Prasthara or spread out ashtakavarga chart.
In various chapters, the author details ashtakavarga for each of the planets from Sun to Saturn. There is a chapter on planetary transits gochara , followed by longevity determination. As is the case with all B. Raman books, there is a collection of horoscopes at the end. These horoscopes are not explain in detail with respect to ashtakavarga, as it the case with other books, but the student is left to work out these example charts.
Detail treatment of these charts with respect to other principles of astrology can be found in other books by Dr.
